Burton Group VP and Research Director Anne Thomas Manes is concerned by initial service-oriented architecture (SOA) adoption research findings. The research aims to discover how well organizations are performing in their SOA initiatives, what kind of value they are realizing, and what factors are impeding their progress.
-- To date, Manes has found few companies that can demonstrate attaining the much touted business value promised by SOA: i.e., significantly reducing costs and increasing agility.
-- The final results of this project will be presented at Burton Group Catalyst Conference, June 23-27 in San Diego. This year, Catalyst will delve into best practices encompassing the full spectrum of SOA including the impact SOA is having on application platforms, user interface design Bloomberg-Terminals-Design and experience, mobile applications, infrastructure services, data and the IT organization.
