The products include new software releases from IBM's Rational software unit, an updated Tivoli software product and a new center of excellence from IBM Global Technology Services. IBM says its latest push for SOA quality is in line with enterprise adoption of the technology.
According to survey data from Forrester Research, SOA adoption among large enterprises is increasing: Nearly 70 percent of SOA users said they would increase their use of SOA, and 46 percent of large enterprise users have the technology in house for strategic business transformation. IBM says with adoption becoming mainstream, enterprise IT managers will need more tools to ensure SOA components and applications work well on production networks.
"With all the change and modularity that occurs in these environments, quality management is pushed to the forefront," says Scott Hebner, IBM vice president for Rational software. "Customers have to update how they go about managing SOA quality."
