Web extra: The next big thing: User-centric identity
User-centric federation aims to give individuals greater control of their digital identities. For example, a corporate user logging on to an employee Web portal with a password may not be aware that the system is transferring authentication data via federation to an outsourced travel services provider.
The user-centric approach, however, lets users make a conscious decision in selecting the ID they wish to use to gain access to a Web site or application.
