We witnessed the exponential growth of PC owners and Internet subscribers in almost all of the developing and developed nations. Technology-savvy business entrepreneurs seized this opportunity to devise new marketing strategies to generate product awareness and opportunities. I would say the first generation of Internet business started off with Internet Web pages. These Web pages describing product features appeared on the Internet, reaching out to millions of potential buyers. Not long after, e-shops and e-malls began to establish their presence on the Internet and started accepting credit cards for online payment.
The third-generation Internet business evolved when e-shops were successfully integrated with their backend systems such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) application software.
