Welcome to the era of web services, where industry collaboration, a host of standards organisations, and consensus from major software rivals has ushered in the possibility of the service oriented architecture (SOA). But as they say, only fools rush in, because some standards are less mature than others, some are specifications rather than standards, and some are just not ready for the enterprise without additional help.
