Many of the established software vendors which dominate today's enterprise IT environments are struggling to put together technology offerings which meet the needs of customers wanting to embark on SOA projects, according to research by IT industry analyst firm Macehiter Ward-Dutton (MWD). For technology users in the midst of selecting SOA vendors, the MWD reports highlight common SOA vendor strengths and weaknesses, and indicate cautionary areas -- such as consistent handling of metadata over the life of a service.
The reports published this week mark the launch of independent research from MWD, which assesses the "service infrastructure" offerings of key IT vendors that aim to provide infrastructure software, guidance and services to support SOA implementations.
