Apache Muse 1.0, management using web services, released
|
Apache Muse, a Java implementation of the Management Using Web Services (MUWS) 1.0 specifications, has been released. Muse 1.0 utilizes Apache WSRF as its WS-ResourceFramework (WSRF) implementation and Apache Pubscribe as its WS-Notification (WSN) implementation. Muse allows you to start from a MUWS-compliant WSDL file and generate a MUWS Web service which can be hosted inside of Axis or other SOAP engines.
MUWS is a specification that allows management of IT resources via web services, much the same role as SNMP, with the difference being the use of web services protocols as opposed to a specific targeted protocol (SNMP itself), although there are other differences as well. There's also a MOWS specification (management of web services), which is described as "management of web services by web services."
