Sabre Holdings Implements Flashline for Web Services Portal

Flashline®, the leading provider of software asset portfolio management solutions, today announced that Sabre Holdings, a world leader in travel commerce, has implemented Flashline Registry® to power its Developer Resource Center, an online portal distributing Sabre® Web Services. The use of Flashline for the Developer Resource Center grew from Sabre's strategic reuse program, where Flashline was already serving as a central registry for the company's entire inventory of internal software assets, including Web Services, components, frameworks and models. Flashline helped Sabre exceed its annual reuse goals.

Sabre Web Services account for millions of daily transactions for air, car, hotel and other travel accommodations. Sabre's use of Flashline aligns with Sabre's strategic objective to move products, services and development to a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).

Using Flashline, Sabre publishes its external, standards-based Web Services to partners worldwide, including airlines, travel agencies and hotels. Sabre uses Flashline's categorizations to organize Web Services according to Open Travel Alliance (OTA) standards. Flashline displays robust information and metadata about each service, including descriptions, WSDL and associated documentation. Customers use the Developer Resource Center to browse, learn about and select Sabre Web Services they can use in their own travel-related applications. Searching for airfare rates and obtaining quotes on car rentals are examples of Web Services available to Sabre partners. Eighty Web Services are available through the Developer Resource Center, with the number of services continually increasing.
