XWebServices.com today announced it has added an additional layer of security to its web services - Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). SSL, originally designed for e-commerce transactions on the internet, is a commonly used protocol for managing the security of a message transmission on the internet. SSL provides three important security capabilities server authentication to the client, confidentiality of the transmitted data, and client authentication to the server (optionally).
